NETHERLANDS WORK PERMIT

Netherlands is renowned for its tech companies and is also one of Europe’s most peaceful countries. You can get a valid 4-year Netherlands work visa applicable for an eligible person. A Netherlands work permit is an Essential Starter Personnel Work Permit, launched in June 2021 as a PILOT (temporary) program.

For the first time, the government attempted to implement this as a temporary program until 2025. If they need to make it a permanent program, they will re-evaluate it in 2025, and the processing duration is 90 days.

The Essential Starter Personnel Work Permit enables candidates to work for any STARTUP they choose in the Netherlands.

Any non-EU citizen wishing to work in the Netherlands must get a valid work permit first. The employee or potential employer may request permission, though the employer normally requests it. A work permit is only valid for the employer who requests it and expires if/when the employee leaves the job. The Netherlands has no general work permit.

Expats from the EU, EEA (the EU plus Iceland, Lichtenstein, and Norway), or Switzerland do not require a work or residence visa in the Netherlands because inhabitants of these countries have the right to move freely inside each other. 

Bulgaria and Romania were the latest EU member countries to achieve complete freedom of movement at the beginning of 2014. Croatians no longer require a Dutch work permit to work in the Netherlands as of July 1, 2018. 

Expats do not need a work permit if they are here for a short time to perform certain jobs (such as press service employees, musicians, and visiting lecturers).
